Get ready for an electrifying showdown as GT takes on MI in the highly anticipated match of 2024. Stay tuned for in-depth analysis, thrilling highlights, and all the latest updates on this epic clash.

1st Innings GT vs MI: Fierce Attack By GT

At Motera, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya seems to have the upper hand in the battle of the ex-players. Pandya won the toss against his former team, the Gujarat Titans, and opted to field first. He cited the dew factor as a reason for his decision, and it is currently affecting the conditions on the field.

While Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill provided Gujarat Titans with a solid start, Mumbai Indians' bowlers staged a strong comeback by taking quick wickets. Currently, Azmatullah Omarzai and Sai Sudarshan are at the crease

The power-packed batting lineup of the Gujarat Titans struggled against the fiery pace of Mumbai Indians' bowlers, particularly Jasprit Bumrah's well-executed yorkers. Only Sai Sudharsan's knock of 45 posed any significant challenge to Mumbai's bowling attack. GT managed to score 168/6 in their allotted 20 overs, and now MI will begin their chase.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah delivered an exceptional performance, finishing with figures of 3 for 14 in his four overs, while Gerald Coetzee also contributed with two crucial wickets

Gujarat Titans XI: Rashid Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Umesh Yadav, Ravisrinivasan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahul Gill (c), Wriddhiman Saha (w), Sai Sudharsan, Vijay Shankar, David Miller Kishore Sai and Johnson Spencer.

The Mumbai Indians XI is made up of Tim David, Shams Mulani, Piyush Chawla, Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah, Luke Wood, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan (w), Naman Dhir, and Hardik Pandya (c)

2nd Innings GT vs MI: Re-counter By MI

MI were chasing a target that seemed attainable, but they faced an early setback when Ishan Kishan was dismissed without scoring. Rohit Sharma played a valuable innings, contributing 43 runs off 29 balls, while Dewald Brewis provided solid support with 46 runs off 38 balls.

Naman Dhir added a quickfire 20 runs before being dismissed. Tilak Varma contributed 25 runs off 19 balls but was unable to maintain the momentum. Hardik Pandya's brief cameo of 11 runs off four balls was cut short, and in the end, Umesh Yadav's impressive bowling in the final over secured a thrilling six-run victory for GT

What a morale-boosting win this could turn out to be for Gujarat, as they seemed down and out when Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brewis were at the crease. However, the crucial wicket from Sai Kishore turned the tide in their favor.

GT started brightly with the ball, picking up a wicket in the first over, but couldn't capitalize in the middle overs. However, the likes of Mohit Sharma and Spencer Johnson came back strongly, and Umesh Yadav finished things off really well

Bowling the final over and defending 19 runs, Umesh Yadav could not have asked for a more fitting comeback. He was hit for a six and a boundary on the first two balls by the marauding Hardik Pandya. However, the pacer held his nerves and dismissed him the very next ball, and subsequently, Piyush Chawla took his team home by six runs.

Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya did their best, but GT pacer Umesh Yadav clinched two crucial wickets in the final over to secure victory for his franchise by 6 runs

Mumbai Indians: Rohit - Hardik Argument Goes Viral

Throughout the match, Rohit remained in the spotlight despite no longer being the skipper of the Mumbai Indians. Even during the course of the match, Rohit could be seen speaking to Hardik and other players, presumably discussing certain strategic decisions.

In a video that has surfaced on social media, Hardik could be seen coming from behind to hug Rohit. However, the former MI captain turned around and looked frustrated as he engaged in an intense chat with his successor.

Mumbai Indians Captain Statement: After Loosing The Match

We backed ourselves to chase those 42 runs, but it was one of those days where we lost the momentum. It feels good to be back because this is one stadium you can enjoy; feel the atmosphere quite lively, and obviously the crowd was full, and they got a good game as well. Regarding Tilak not taking the single vs. Rashid, I think Tilak felt that was a better idea at that point in time. I completely back him, not an issue; we've got 13 games to go.
