1st Innings : Thrilling Moments By PBKS

Virat Kohli has played a significant role in Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) strong start during the powerplay.

Despite being dropped by Jonny Bairstow off the second ball of the innings, Kohli aggressively scored 35 runs off 21 balls. At the end of the powerplay, RCB reached 50/2 while chasing a target of 177. Earlier, Punjab Kings had posted a score of 176/6, with Shashank Singh contributing 20 runs off the final over, boosting their total after a relatively subdued batting performance

The standout performers for RCB with the ball were Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal. Siraj claimed 2 wickets for 26 runs, while Dayal took 1 wicket for 23 runs.

The total is likely slightly below par. However, the pitch is not a batting paradise. The boys finished well, and if we can pick up a few early wickets, we can get back into the game. The bowlers did a great job with the new ball, and there was some assistance for the spinners. We have a plan in place and aim to make 176 runs enough to defend.

 

2nd Innings: Recounter By RCB

The target of 177 runs wasn't overly challenging, but it required careful planning and execution due to the nature of the pitch.

The Royal Challengers needed 47 runs from 24 balls at that point. Dinesh Karthik, who remained unbeaten on 28 off 10 balls, and 'Impact Player' Mahipal Lomror, scoring 17 off 8 balls, guided them to victory with some sensible cricket. Karthik, known as the team's designated finisher, demonstrated his ability to switch seamlessly from microphone to bat as he effortlessly dispatched deliveries from Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh to seal the win in style.

Kohli's innings was not without its flaws, as he was given two reprieves during his innings. The first came off the very first ball when he was on zero, and the second occurred when he was on 33. On both occasions, pacer Sam Curran was the unlucky bowler.

Kohli (77 runs off 49 balls, including 11 fours and 2 sixes) orchestrated the chase near-perfectly as RCB reached 178 for six with four balls to spare, securing their first win of this IPL.

 

IPL 2024 PBKS: Dhawans Statement After Loss

It was a good game, we managed to bring the game back but unfortunately lost it again. We ended up scoring 10-15 runs less. I started a bit slow in the first six overs, and those missed runs cost us, along with the dropped catch.

The turning point was Virat scoring 70-odd runs and us dropping a catch of such a class player. If we had taken that catch, the momentum could have been different, and we paid the price for it.

The wicket wasn't entirely true; it was stopping, with a bit of double bounce and turn as well. Around 60% of the time, it played well, but 30% of the time, it was tricky. Personally, I'm satisfied with my runs, but I felt I could have accelerated a bit more in the first six overs. Losing wickets in succession put pressure on us. Overall, the total we managed was what we thought was competitive on this wicket.

The match went down to the wire, and even in the end, we could have bowled better. Siraj has been bowling really well, especially against left-handers. It's tremendous how he handled the pressure and got us breakthroughs

It's been going on for years, this love story with the fans at Chinnaswamy. People often talk about various aspects of sports - achievements, stats, numbers. But when you reflect back, it's the memories you create that truly matter.

The love, appreciation, and support I've received have been incredible. I always aim to provide the team with a blazing start, but if wickets fall, you have to reassess the situation. The pitch wasn't its usual flat self. I'm disappointed I couldn't finish the game; the ball was in the slot, but I ended up slicing it to deep point.

 They are aware that I play the cover drive well, so they didn't allow me to hit the gaps easily. You have to come up with a game plan now and then. I know my name is now synonymous with promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I guess I've still got it.
